Ross - PSSA Preparation

Please be aware that students in 3rd through 6th grades are preparing for PSSA testing now that we are into January. PSSA testing will take place from April 20 through May 8. Please refrain from scheduling any family trips or appointments during this testing window.

Lake-Noxen - Introducing the Dropbox

Lake-Noxen Elementary is implementing a new procedure for dropping off items for the office, classroom teacher, or your child. Inside the front doors, you will find the Drop Box. Please make every attempt to clearly mark the item with your child's name, grade, and homeroom before bringing it to the school. Once you drop an item at school, we will send an email to the homeroom teacher notifying them. We provide the Drop Box merely as a convenience for anything that needs brought to school, but it is not a guarantee that your child will get the item in a timely manner. It is important to encourage students to prepare in advance for the day ahead and to be sure they have everything they need before leaving home and heading to school.

Lake-Noxen - Delayed Starts

For most weather-related late starts the Lake-Noxen Elementary will be operating on a two-hour delay. However, is possible for shorter or longer delays. Breakfast is not served on late start days. Students are to be at their bus stop two hours later than normal or in time accordance with the delay. Bus drivers use extreme caution in potentially bad weather and understandably busing times may be slightly off schedule. Please exercise patience while waiting for the bus to arrive. Do not drop students off before the school opens at 10:55 a.m. in the event of a two-hour delay. Students will remain outside of the building and supervision will not be available.

Lehman-Jackson - Scholastic Book Fair

The Lehman-Jackson book fair is on Wednesday, February 5 and on Thursday, February 6. Please watch for informational flyers coming home soon.

Lehman-Jackson - Zaner Bloser Handwriting Contest

Students in kindergarten through 6th grade will soon be participating in the Zaner Bloser national handwriting contest. Zaner Bloser is the district’s handwriting program that we use in grades kindergarten through third grade. This is a great opportunity for students to showcase their best handwriting. Lehman-Jackson has a strong history of performing well in this contest, and we are hoping to have the same results this year.

Students will have the opportunity to compete for the honor of representing their school as a school grade-level winner. All school grade-level winners will move on to compete at the state and national levels for the chance to be a grand national grade-level champion. Please encourage your children to try their best as they participate in this upcoming contest.

Inclement Weather

The superintendent, through the advice of the bus contractor and Penn-Dot, determines when severe weather necessitates the need for school delays or early dismissals. We will make an announcement over local television stations, through One Call phone system, text messaging, the district webpage, Facebook, and Twitter. We kindly ask that you use the communication systems mentioned and not call the school for delay/dismissal information. Please be sure your child knows what procedures to follow in case of a weather-related emergency. When we are on a two-hour delay, doors to the school will open at 10:55 a.m. Please do not drop off your child before 10:55 a.m. Supervision will not be available before this time.

Kindergarten Readiness Program

Lake-Lehman School District will be offering a kindergarten readiness program for the 2020–2021 school year. We will break this program into three segments throughout the year and will provide activities for both the child and parent to instill a sense of comfort and familiarity for their first elementary experience. The orientation provides information about bus safety, reading and math readiness, nutrition, and pre-registration in order to prepare you and your child for kindergarten. Please see our kindergarten readiness flyer for more information.
